December '08 Guild Council Report

Just a short report this time Guild Council; with end of term course deadlines mounting up, the amount of time I have been able to spend on SSO matters recently has not been as great as I had hoped. But although I have not been able to be entirely proactive of late, I should like to remind all the students of satellite sites that I am entirely open to their issues, and would urge them to contact me on sso@guild.bham.ac.uk

A quick update on the progress of the Selly Oak Campus Committee; up till now, nominations have been slow coming in, despite ,y frequent visits to the site and the large amount of publicity materials which I have distributed. Now, however, is not the time to give up, and I shall be launching a fresh offensive in January to get candidates to come forward. The establishment of a successful small scaloe representative body is something I feel is essential for the Guild to have a continued role in supporting students on the site.
Return visits to Ironbridge and Shakespeare, though initially hoped to occur this semester have , for aforementioned reasons been put back. I am still hoping to undertake these visits early next semester, with a number of key Sabbs in tow – updates to follow.
